How to Apply
There are several types of memberships at ABYC.
Senior members, in addition to
being able to use all the club facilities, are entitled to have a boat at ABYC
(wet mooring, dry sailed or dinghy) and to vote at general meetings and are also
entitled to hold an executive position on the board. Senior members who join
after the beginning of the fiscal year will have their membership dues
prorated.
Senior Associate members are
members who have chosen to no longer store a boat at ABYC and are senior
citizens. They enjoy all the privileges and facilities at the club except for
voting rights at general meetings.
Junior members may use all the
club facilities (barring any legal age requirements) and after being a junior
member for a period of 5 years shall have the initiation fee waved should they
choose to become intermediate members. Junior members may store a dinghy at the
club provided they pay the storage fees and that they are in the Junior sailing
program.
Dinghy members may use all the
club facilities and may store a boat classed as a dinghy on the property.
Dinghy members may not vote at general meetings nor can they hold a position on
the board.
Associate (Crew) members are
entitled to use the Club facilities, crew for senior or intermediate members, and are eligible to apply for the Co-op Sailing Program. An Associate membership is an individual membership and does not include other family members. Associates may not store a boat on club property, cannot vote at general meetings, nor hold a position on the board.
Introductory Associate (Crew) members are new to the Club and have not previously been members. Introductory Associate members are entitled to use the Club facilities, crew for senior or intermediate members, and are eligible to apply for the Co-op Sailing Program. An Introductory Associate membership is an individual membership and does not include other family members. Introductory Associates may not store a boat on club property, cannot vote at general meetings, nor hold a position on the board. This membership expires at the end of the year and is not renewable, although anyone who is or has been an Introductory Associate may apply for membership in another membership class. The Introductory membership fee cannot be applied to the initiation fee of another membership class.
Out of Town members are senior
members who have temporarily chosen to stop using the club facilities for what
ever reason. During the period of their absence, they may not store or moor a
boat at the club and may not vote at general meeting. Upon return, these
members shall be granted full privileges.
